ABOUT THE TRUST

109 Original Tūpuna.
One United Whānau.

The Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust represents a unique group of descendants from two iwi. They whakapapa back to our 94 Ngāti Rārua tūpuna and 15 Te Ātiawa tūpuna - the original landowners of our Motueka homelands.

As a Trust, we manage and nurture these land holdings on behalf of and for the benefit of all descendants of the original 109 owners.

Home Truths of Te Maara

01

Nothing Grows Alone

Every plant, person, and action is connected. Ecosystems need diversity to thrive.

02

What We Give, We Receive

The maara teaches reciprocity: nurture her, and she will nurture you.

03

We Are Only Here For A Time

We tend to the gardens left by our ancestors and prepare the soil for those yet to come.

04

Speak With Her, Not Of Her

Te Taiao shows us when to plant, when to harvest, and when to rest.

05

We Can Prepare But Not Control

We can't force growth, but we can create the conditions for it.

"
Our world is changing, and so must we. We stand at a turning point with both a legacy to uphold and new challenges to face.
