Uru Tau Scholarship

Uru Tau / Riwai Ngapaki & Tuatara Mokena Scholarship

Award

  1. For study at certificate, diploma, degree or postgraduate level - also trades training and adult education.

  2. Applicants must show how their programme of study/research contributes to the business objectives or social deliverables of Whakarewa.

  3. There is an expectation that the recipient will contribute to Whakarewa during the term of their scholarship.

  4. The number and value of scholarships awarded is to be determined by the Education komiti.

Eligibility

  1. Be a registered member of Whakarewa.

  2. Be enrolled with a recognised tertiary institute or training provider.

  3. Provision of confirmation of enrolment.

  4. Achieved a ‘C’ grade average or equivalent for previous study.

  5. Field of study must contribute to the core business objectives or social deliverables of Whakarewa.

  6. Successful applicants must sign and return a funding agreement before the award is released at which time 50% of the scholarship will be awarded. The balance will be paid on provision of evidence of successful completion of the year’s study.

Other Requirements

  1. Applicants are required to describe their involvement in Whakarewa kaupapa over the past 12 months and explain how the Trust can balance its economic, social and cultural objectives. The quality of these responses and the above criteria will determine how this scholarship is awarded. Refer to Te Pae Mahutonga for more details.

  2. Applicants studying towards S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) and business related programmes of study/research will be given preference in consideration of this award.
